ALPHA studio uses fundamental design principles to develop meaningful connections to place and others. In the first half of the studio, students undertake a series of esquisses to explore ground conditions and site studies on a site at the University of Melbourne.

  • 01 | Ground Conditions 01 (week 1-3) | Sketching bodies in space, planes and space diagrams, spatial site analysis, installation.
  • 02 | Ground Conditions 02 (week 4-6) | Spatial progression sketches, shadow analysis, site analysis 1:50, object detail 1:5, installation.
  • 03 | Dystopian Dreams (week 7-12) The major project develops these concepts into an urban terrain and micro-infrastructure to house a series of communal spaces and activities at Lincoln Square.
  • 04 | Design Journal (ongoing) | Ongoing recording of weekly lectures, research, design process etc.
