ARCHITECTURE STUDIO 1 introduces students to iterative processes of making and critical reflection in order to learn to formulate and test architectural design ideas. Students develop a series of 3 spatial models explore geometric, spatial and formal design qualities and principles as well as transition and journey.

  • Plaster cast – Taken from measured drawing of their bedroom and abstracted at a scale of 1:20
  • Acrylic – Use of 90 degree planes to create a form and space that provides a journey through it at a scale of 1:100
  • Metal – Use of angles and triangles to create a form and space that provides a journey through it at a scale of 1:100

In their final 5-12 week project they collaborate in pairs to create two terrains to house two of their original acrylic and metal model structures. They must work collaboratively as a class to integrate their terrains as a whole.
